You can see the "K" stamped in the leather below where the ball gets inflated. This football is the earlier Paul Tagliabu Wilson football prior to 2006 when they started using the current 'Duke' design. You can also see the diamond referee marks in the picture to show that a referee inspected the ball prior to the game. I am not sure what game this was used in but it was most likely form one of the Chicago Bears home games from several years ago. I should explain that I have a sibling that works in the NFL on game Sundays and these balls will pass any test to verify authenticity. Since Roger Goodell became NFL commissioner in 2006, the NFL started using the original Duke football design again. At that same time, they started putting the team names under the seam to differentiate the true game balls from the store-bought look-alikes. The only exception to that rule is the K balls which are brought in for each game specifically by the referees for kicking purposes only. They do not have team names on them but have a 'K' or several 'K's stamped on the ball. In 2007, they also started adding the game that the "K" balls will be used for, i.e. PS-2 = second pre-season game, GM-3 = third game of the regular season, etc. I would like to point out that the replica footballs made by Wilson retail for around $100 and these footballs are not game used. Since the NFL has instituted these changes, it is easier to tell the difference between the retail footballs and the NFL game used footballs.
