In 1992, Mickey Mantle signed an exclusive contract with Upper Deck, for him to endorse their product while allowing Upper Deck to offer signed memorabilia of the Mick's for their newest branch of their company, Upper Deck Authenticated. The contract Mickey signed was more than he made over his illustrious 18 season career with the New York Yankees. One of UDA's first offerings, and the first authenticated product offered that was signed by Mickey, was the Louisville Slugger offered in this auction. There have been multiple editions of this bat offered to the public by UDA, however, this is from the first edition. The difference is that this one was signed "Mickey Mantle #7" in BLUE SHARPEE™ Marker... the other blonde-wood Louisville Sluggers that were later released by UDA were signed in BLACK. First edition bats sell for over $7500, and even later editions sell for over $6500. Of course, that is when you can find them. These are rare. The original Certificate and Certificate Card, as well as the original Registration Card are included with this auction, and are in great shape (we never registered the bat with Upper Deck). Both cards and numbers match the UDA Hologram that is positioned on the butt-end of the bat, of course.
