Description
click for larger image19934: 1932-33 Harry Oliver Game Worn Jersey. 1932-33 Harry Oliver Game Worn Jersey. Founded in 1924, the Boston Bruins entered the NHL as the first American expansion team. Under the guidance of Art Ross the Bruins began a steady rise to prominence, helped greatly by the dissolution of the Western Hockey League in 1926. By 1929 they had achieved hockey's greatest feat when they took home their first Stanley Cup with a defeat of the New York Rangers.Along with such stars as Eddie Shore, Dit Clapper, Dutch Gainor and Tiny Thompson, Harry Oliver was one of the key members of that 1929 championship team. Here we present a fine vintage wool sweater that was worn by Oliver with this 1932-33 gamer worn jersey. Outstanding in its representation, the prominent two-color "B" dominates the jersey front between areas of the Bruins' signature gold and brown stripes, which were the team's original colors. But the uniqueness of this sweater is not only confined to the fact that it was worn by an inducted member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Careful study of the Boston Bruin uniforms of past will reveal that this gem with the "B" on chest was only worn for two seasons from 1932-34. Furthermore, there is no known second set in this style, making this Oliver jersey a true one-of-a-kind.Numerous team repairs have been added throughout, most prominently in the right armpit area and in the elbows. Much care has been taken to ensure that no unrepaired holes have remained. The sparkling gamer also includes Oliver's jersey number "9" sewn on the verso.Provenance is air-tight as this jersey comes directly from the estate of Harry Oliver when Danny Oliver, his nephew, came into a Vancouver show in the mid-1990s and sold five jerseys to a Toronto dealer. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 22.50% Buyer's Premium with a $9 minimum Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid. This lot is being auctioned in conjunction with a live floor auction by Heritage Auctions.
